UPDATE
Saturday, July 5
Saturday is the day we hit the road and headed to Panama City Beach, FL. This time it wasn't the Calvary crew that suffered auto problems. FBC, Herrin, IL lost power on their bus and had to find a shop near Huntsville, AL. It was a miracle that one was open near where we stopped on the 4th of July weekend. The man who was their was not actually OPEN, he was just working on his bosses car. The bus couldn't be fixed!!! We piled up 70 people on 1 bus and 3 vans, not to mention their luggage too!!! Bro. Courtney stayed the night in a hotel hoping that the bus would be fixed the next day. We went on with out him. Due to the layover, we arrived in Panama City Beach, FL in the rain around 11:30 pm. Everyone was exhausted, but was glad to be here.

Sunday, July 6
We split up into 3 teams and went to 3 different churches for morning services. 1 team went to Westview Baptist Church, 1 went to Cornerstone Baptist Church and 1 went to West Bay Baptist Church. Each team did a special for the services at their church. It was really neat knowing that our mission team was all over the PCB area. That afternoon we drove to our 6 different locations that we would be ministering to during the week. That evening after supper we took our first trip to the beach.

Monday, July 7
Monday is usually the day of high expectation. It was our first day to go to our sites and serve. But we all had a rude awakening at 4:00 am in the morning. "My Son" Korben tried to hop down from his top bunk and missed! Another words, he came tumbling down. Dana, Korben and me headed to the Emergency Room at 4:00 am. 4 hours later, Korben had 4 stitches in his top lip, a bruised shoulder and a cracked toe. He is doing OK though and is really doing well. After this event, we had 6 teams that went out to do some mission work. Team 1 went to St. Andrew State Park. There they had a kids club for the children. Team 2 went to Raccoon River Campground and had a kids club for the children there. Team 3 & 4 went to Westview Baptist Church. Team 3 did some clean up and minor construction around the church. This consisted of cleaning a storage room, cleaning up the kitchen and tearing out some old carpet. Team 4 hosted a kids club. Team 5 went to West Bay Baptist Church and helped them decorate for an up-coming VBS. Team 6 worked at Corner Stone Baptist Church. They helped clean up a elderly church member's yard and did some other minor clean up jobs. Many of our teams spent the afternoon enjoying the beach. But after supper, we headed to Raccoon River Campground to do a Family Evening Program. There was probably 15 in attendance from the campground. We don't know how many stayed at their campsite, but tuned in to the program. The 2 churches combined and presented a fantastic program. There was definitely some seeds planted.

Tuesday, July 8
Tuesday started off calmer than Monday did. No one went to the Emergency Room! Our teams headed back to their sites. A praise from the team at Westview Baptist Church, they had 19 at their Kid's Klub. Team 6 changed sites today and went to Youngstown Baptist Church. They helped move furniture out of a nearby school so that the floors could be redone before school starts. The afternoon was spent at the beach. The highlight of the day was the Family Evening Program at St. Andrew's State Park. I bet that their were about 50 people there watching as our teens ministered. The drive home was difficult. We went from being on the mountain top to rushed into the valley. We received word from home of a tragic automobile accident involing 2 students that many of our students from Calvary knew and were close to. The rest of our evening was spent sharing love for one another and looking for the grace of God to help us through this difficulty.

Wednesday, July 9
Wednesday started off slow. You could tell it was the middle of the week and we had been at it hard for 3 days. What we needed was a recharging! So after our morning team responsibilities were fulfilled, we relaxed and played the rest of the day. The praise band had the opportunity to play on a stage set up for Christian bands during the evening. The teens had a great time. Everyone got in on the fun! Wednesday was the recharging that we all needed. Now, we are ready for Thursday.

Thursday, July 10
Everyone was pumped up and ready for the final day at their ministry sites. You will see some very hard working teens if you check out Thursday's Silent Video. 2 of our teams finished up sodding a yard, while several others said goodbye to their Kid's Klub kids. This has been great mission trip. FBC, Herrin and CBC, Union City have grown close this week. The memories made during this trip will last a while. Tomorrow is our Free Day. Some will go and check out Pier Park, a local shopping area, while others will just lay out on the beach. Later tomorrow evening we will have the opporutnity for a boat ride down the coast line. Everyone is looking forward to that. This will be the last message posted! We should be home Saturday evening. Thank you for keeping up with us and checking these messages daily. Your prayers have been a great help too!!!
